ACRELive! EMERGENCY WEBINAR – Primer on Insurance Response to California Wildfires
Everyone is doubtless aware of the unprecedented physical, economic and emotional damage that the fires in Southern California continue to inflict. While they continue to rage on, those affected are left with the herculean task of trying to start over. Like so many others, ACREL is trying to find a way to fit into the solution. To that end, we are offering an hour-long primer to assist victims and loved ones engage the daunting task of navigating the insurance claims and recovery process. This webinar is open to anyone who would like to join (ACREL or otherwise) and, because capacity is limited to 1,000 attendees, it will be recorded for future access on the ACREL website. Due to the capacity limits, we do ask that you refrain from sending a blast email, and instead thoughtfully invite those you know directly who have been impacted. We will make the recording available to all after the fact. To that end, we have brought in 2 subject matter experts to present on such matters as:
1. How to read a declarations page?
2. Differences between policies?
3. What to expect after filing a claim?
The presentation will be followed by a healthy Q&A with the presenters.
Speakers:
William “Chip” F. Merlin, Jr. has dedicated his practice to the representation and advocacy of insurance policyholders in disputes with insurance companies nationwide, and has vast experience in the world of both wildfire and hurricane claims and disputes.
Derek Chaiken has dedicated his practice to representing home and business owners in recovering compensation from their insurers and third parties when their property has been damaged. As a major advocate for victims of the Woolsey fire in Malibu, his experience is directly relevant to the topics at hand.
